The Grace Alexander Foundation, an organization that has donated thousands of dollars to families struggling with the financial burden of paying for health care costs associated with cancer treatment, has recently teamed with the pediatric oncology department at Arnold Palmer Hospital. The GAF will be donating thousands of dollars in food vouchers, gas cards and bus passes to families. The GAF knows how important getting these children to treatment is and hopes that these contributions help ease that burden.
The Grace Alexander Foundation was formed in 2007 in honor of Grace Alexander Fowler, who lost her battle with lung cancer in 1998, and Julie Marie Weber, who lost her battle with neuro-endocrine carcinoma at the young age of 29. Since 2007, the GAF has donated thousands to families across Central Florida to help defray health care costs associated with treatment. In 2012, the Grace Alexander Foundation donated $1,500 to Kids Beating Cancer – an organization that also supports families facing pediatric cancer and that has served over 7,000 children.
